Publisher's Description

"Again, we shipped our photo trucks (two vehicles so that our assistants could live and camp out of one) to Iceland during each of three summers—2004, 2006, and 2010. We were introduced to the idea of going there by a friend in the Netherlands who showed us lots of slides from his several trips there. It all looked so surreal and wild. It is hard for us to talk about Iceland in short sentences. We have so many good things to say about it, the land, the atmosphere, the people, the adventures—everything exceeded our expectations. We could go on and on, but it is all in the books—two of them—Iceland: A Personal View, Volume I for me and Volume II for Michael. We each have written a Preface for the books. In Volume I, I have published excerpts from my journals, writings that give a sense of the place, our experiences, and stories while traveling and photographing. There is an essay by Jens Erdman Rasmussen, former Curator of Photography at the National Museum of Photography in Copenhagen, and a Foreword by Ómar Þ. Ragnarsson, Iceland's most famous citizen and environmental activist." - Paula Chamlee
