Publisher's Description

Trade Edition of 500 copies with black-and-white illustrations, accordion binding, and printed sleeve.

This is the 9th installation in Takashi Homma's “Hommage” series tribute to Ed Ruscha's artist's books. This time Every Building on the Ginza Street is a tribute to Ruscha's Every Building on the Sunset Strip (1966), which records all the buildings along the Sunset Strip in Hollywood.

One of the books frequently mentioned along with this work is the separate, two-volume Album Ginza Haccho, published in 1954 in Japan. For one of those volumes, Yoshikazu Suzuki photographed both sides along Chuo-dori linking Kyobashi to Shimbashi, commonly known as “Ginza-dori.” Ruscha's Sunset Strip is very similar to Suzuki's, including the theme, layout, and bookbinding. When Suzuki's book first became known in Europe and the United States, the question arose: Did Ruscha ever see this earlier publication?

Limited Edition of 100 signed and numbered copies with color illustrations, accordion binding, and printed sleeve.
