The master photographer recounts his life.

In “A Life in Photography”, Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan’s greatest living photographers, reflects on the most important stages of his life and career. In the form of an interview (led by Mayumi Uchida) and aided by photographs, Araki begins the twelve chapters recounting memories of his camera-loving father and his first encounters with photography, continues with his first successes in the 1960s, anecdotes about his beloved wife Yoko, the heyday period of the Japanese photography scene, meeting stars and personals idols such as Takeshi Kitano and Robert Frank, his obsessions and fixations, and talks about his later life, including the death of his cat Chiro and his ailing health.
The book opens with 48 pages of new, previously unpublished photographs and includes an in-depth chronological summary in the back.
