Derived from a collaborative dance/video collaboration with Pavel Zustiak/Palissimo, Robert Flynt's (Signed) consists of dramatically lit photographic images of nude male and female models combined with found illustrations from an early 20th century textbook on American sign language. The resulting photo collages conflate present and past, male and female, while establishing a taxonomy of gestures that goes beyond the denotations of sign language.
