Shoot, Photography of the Moment is a compelling look at a wave of photographers who deliberately present seemingly offhand images in a fine art or editorial context, and thus strive to create perfectly imperfect images. The photographers presented in this book are from all over the world and do not have a unified approach, but all are influenced by a movement that began twenty-five years ago with the personal documentary work of Stephen Shore and Nan Goldin. Some of the photographers manufacture false narratives where as others capture the mundane world surrounding them, yet all create absorbing imagery with cheap, easy to use cameras. By seeing beyond the technically correct and intentionally documenting moments, the photographs convey a unique quality of their own. The book also includes exceptional essays by Penny Martin, Ken Miller and Stephen Shore that unite this collection of imagery into a powerful testimonial for the movement as a whole.
